In this post, I want to share a little
information about Environment In Surabaya. Surabaya is famous with the second
metropolitan city after Jakarta. Almost of us know that Surabaya is crowded, full
of motor vehicles, there are many glorious and big buildings in downtown, the crime rate is higher than other city in East Java, and Surabaya
is well known with urbanization from other city with looking for a job as the main purpose.
May be, we don’t think
that In fact Surabaya has tourism Village area of the downtown.
Exactly located in Margo Rukun Street,
Near with Bubutan Street In Surabaya. This region is the winner of event Workshop
Earth Hour Champion Of six major cities in Java and Bali. Generally, the region look as ordinary
village. Even if it is seen, this place is a narrow alley and can only be traversed by one car. Many places
like this, we
see throughout the area of Jakarta.
But don’t misjudge with the
condition. We will be shocked when we get into the seventh alley from the place.
There are full of plants in the right and the left side of the road. The place looked as the green leaves of view dominates, and
make our eyes become fresh when we look at the place in the middle temperature of the hot
city of Surabaya. Biopori holes
made alongside a road as a water catchment. Every resident’s home, There is a
simple trash which made from garbage bags to hold types of dry waste. It also has
seven unit aerobic composter
as compos maker which base material from compos manufacture that is taken from wet waste from the
resident.
But the unique from this
region, there is garbage bank that arranged neatly, the result can be got by
the resident every 2 month, form of basic
food or stationery.
Not only that, The region also empowers citizens to form a cadre of
environmental and form groups with specific functions and tasks. Such as : Group of recycling bins that have task to
recycle the various types
of plastic packaging former and are changed to various types of bags and place of jewelry.
In before this region was well known as
slum settlements and one of crime place But now With the awareness of the
resident of this place, they have tried to change the bad image gradually since
2007.
Now this region Margo Rukun get numerous awards from City
Government of Surabaya and other region. Not only that this place also get visiting
from various parties to do study comparative. Even tis place also get visiting not only from
domestics visitor but some contries in Asia.
I think, it is first step to change
Surabaya become green and clean. And
well known as care for the environment. It
influence other region to do
that.
