"Fire in the hole!" or "Bomb has been planted, and then BOOM!, Terrorist win!" are familiar words in CS (abbreviation from Counter Strike).
Half-Life: Counter Strike is a tactical First Person Shooter game developed by Valve Corporation. As of August 2011, this game has sold over 25 million units.
The goal of this game is preventing your enemy's from completing their objectives, and the winner team get a lot of money, and buy some weapons and killing stuff.
Players can choose Terrorist (T) or Counter-Terrorist (CT) in 4 game modes:
1. Bomb a target (T) - Defuse Bomb/Guard a target until timeup (CT)
2. Guard Hostages (T) - Rescue Hostages (CT)
3. Assasinate (T) - Guard a VIP (CT)
4. Escape (T) - Guard an exit way (CT)
Review:
Another excitement about this game are the realistic weapons, in real life most of weapons are used in Seal Team (USA), GIGN (Germany), Arctic Avenger (Sweden) and many other. Each team has a unique weapon, example for rifles are AK-47 (T) and M4 (CT), the AK has a incredible damage but it's not accurate in burst firing, but the M4 is a balanced rifle both damage and accurate. And you must choose weapon correctly depend on size of the map (arena). no fear of death? you can choose Shotguns that great weapons at close combat and it very funny to play with, and if you are getting frustate, the sniper rifles are the choice. One ammo to kill is awesome but it's hard to hit a moving enemy.
The equipments are complex, kevlar can reduce damage from enemy firearms, Nightvision for better sight at night, helmet can prevent an instant headshot, and there are many type of grenades. The most annoying grenade is flashbang, those tricky grenade can blind your sight, it's depend on your distance from those flashbangs, and smoke grenade is versatile grenade that can helping you escape from crossfire, or flank your enemies if you play aggresively. And of course the frag granade that help reduce enemy's health.
Sound is good aspect at gaming, while you are playing counter strike, headphones are recommended, because you can hear the enemy's footstep that nearby you, so you can ambush the enemy stealthy, knife is always better than your firearm.
This game is a decade years old game (first version released in 2000), but why there are many people still playing this game? Though there is lastest version of Counter Strike known as CS: Source (final version released in 2010) with outstanding graphic animation when compared this old game. The reason is this game has the better gameplay! And my opinion that older CS has a harder aim and recoil system (the movement of crosshair when firing, if you know what I mean) that more challenging than the newer CS. So, Graphic cannot beat gameplay! Not only CS, Just like another newer games, they are only good at graphic, but have monotonic gameplay.
